Ethics, safety, and best practices

Why I do this

There are two reasons I exist, business-wise. I like new adventures and meeting new people, and it pleases me to see my doings help make lives better for people in any way I can. I believe that one should always find a personal connection in their work that helps them see how their work is improving the community in which they live.

The other thing that compels me is my love of technology and its power to help the human mind achieve greater heights. I am a hobbyist and enthusiast at heart, and now I want to provide the benefits of the knowledge I've gained to others as a professional.

Entering your home - Why you can trust me

Unless you are a small business or organization, chances are I will have to enter your living quarters.

I can provide you with local references who are respected and known senior members of the local community. You may also call law enforcement and ask them about my reputation. To them, I do not exist.

I have entered probably well over 1000 residences through my work without incident. I will always respect your living quarters and your way of life. I believe in confidentiality, similar to what you would get from a lawyer or doctor. I will always respect your computer equipment. I believe in the sanctity of your personal data and privacy short of witnessing crimes. I will not tolerate abuse of any kind and will inform authorities if need be.

Technique

As an independent agent, I do not get paid to sell or endorse any product. I believe there is a right tool for every situation, and that includes being cost-effective. Not everyone needs a $3000 device, and I do not particularly enjoy wasting other people's money.

Why you'll like working with me

Many people are intimidated by computers and technology, and feel insecure about their computing experience or equipment. Remember, the pervasiveness of new technology and societal changes that come along with it are not normal and there is nothing wrong with feeling left out. What is happening today is actually rather bizarre in many ways. So don't feel silly about anything.

I was fortunate that during my earliest stages of learning development that good, decent people taught me how to be ready for what is happening today in the technology business. I am not expert on everything, and I will never lie to you or sell you a service I am not cost-effective in providing. I got in on the ground floor, so to speak, and I believe this makes it my duty that I carry on the tradition of the early internet community's principled beliefs in freely exchanging of ideas, improving human communication and building new connections, both electronic and socially.
